Late/Absence Procedures

The school day starts at 8.50 am and we expect your child to be in class at that time. School will need prior notice if, for any reason, your child is unable to attend school at this time so that the relevant attendance mark can be allocated to your child’s record.

Registers are marked by 9.00 am and your child will receive a late mark if they are not in by that time. At 9.20 am the registers will be closed. In accordance with the Regulations, if your child arrives after that time they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence.

Children who arrive at school after 9.00am must be signed in at the school office by their escorting parent/carer.

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason you must:

  • Contact us as soon as possible on the first day of absence. Contact can be made by telephoning the school office on 01704 880636
  • You can call into school and report to Reception.
  • Or you can email us on head@st-marks.lancs.sch.uk

If we are not informed of your child’s absence we will attempt to make contact with you using the contact details supplied by yourself. Non-contact may result in an unauthorised absence.

Further information can be found in St Mark’s Attendance Policy.
